The old castle mound stands proudly over the 950 year old town of Dohna, near Dresden. Once residence of the Donin dynasty, the Wettiners stormed the castle in 1402, and over the following centuries it fell into ruins. In the 19th century, the people of Dohna rebuilt the fortified tower as a memorial to its’ past, and included a clubhouse, bowling alley and a large hall. Despite all the turmoil, the castle always remained the cultural centre of Dohna. Since 1990 questions of ownership, then usage have left the castle disused.
We at Eckstein want to use this opportunity to provide the town with a centre that is again open to the locals. Renovation work is required, but the buildings are in sound condition and partially in use. Perfectly located in the town centre, yet offering plenty of space to meet.
